Mike Bothwell focuses his legal practice on the qui tam prosecution of fraud, waste and abuse under the False Claims Act and the protection of his clients against retaliation for investigating and prosecuting the misuse of government money.

Mike Bothwell graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University Law School in 1991. He was an editor of the BYU Law Review for two years and published two law review articles while attending law school. After clerking for a federal judge in Atlanta and working for large Atlanta law firms, he founded the firm now known as Bothwell & Harris PC, in 1996.

Since undertaking prosecutions under the False Claims Act in 1995, Mike has participated in cases returning hundreds of millions of dollars to the government and his clients are responsible for most of the largest whistleblower settlements in the State of Georgia. Mike and his firm are also responsible, nationally, for helping develop the False Claims Act law and have established several key precedents at the appellate level. Cases handled by Mike Bothwell have been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show and Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN. They have also been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. Mike Bothwell has often been asked to speak on the False Claims Act or to join cases initiated by other attorneys as a False Claims Act specialist.
