Spirit Lake Tribe recently agreed to pay $1.9 million following allegations that it failed to follow specifications in making Kevlar cloth material. The material was used for miliatry helmets worn by U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afganistan.

Although the Kevlar cloth material passed all ballistics safety tests, U.S. Attorney Drew Wriglely said it was "not debatable" that the company was "underweaving." The lawsuit was filed by two former company employees under the False Claims Act. They will recieve a $406,350 share for their participation in the lawsuit.
