Odyssey HealthCare, Inc. has agreed to pay $13 million to the United States to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act. The company will also enhance its compliance program through a corporate integrity agreement, which provides that Odyssey institute a first-of-its kind clinical review protocol whose findings will be verified by an independent organization. The U.S. Departments of Justice and of Health and Human Services, as well as the Office of Inspector General, began its investigation of the company as a result of two whistleblower actions filed against Odyssey.
